"The Vikings and Norse people carried stories in their hair, much like many indigenous cultures have done throughout history. Braiding became a form of visual storytelling, each strand carefully woven with memories of battles, victories, and the parts of their journey that were hardest to carry. In this way, their hair became a symbol of strength and resilience. Their pain wasn’t something to hide or discard, but something to honour, like a scar, marking both the battle and the survival.I’m no longer interested in pretending pain doesn’t exist. Pain reveals our strength. The two are intertwined, part of the same cycle - symbiotic in nature and that’s a relationship I choose to honour, nurture, and truly see."
